Guidelines:
The purpose of RiverCal is to provide a primary community calendar for the Siuslaw region that connects our geographically dispersed and diverse residents and welcomes visitors to our community.
Terms & Conditions:
Please be polite and refrain from using profanity. Always follow RiverCal policies. Calendar administrators may delete inappropriate or irrelevant postings. If in doubt about whether an event is inappropriate or irrelevant, please review What You Can and Can’t Post to RiverCal, or Frequently Asked Questions, or Contact Us. An event with no contact information may be deleted. Calendar users posting events are allowed one warning per calendar year for violating RiverCal policies. If violations are repeated, the user may be prohibited from posting events. Decisions of RiverCal administrators are final. These terms and conditions may be revised at any time; revisions will be posted on RiverCal.org.
How to Post an Event:
Please follow these guidelines when submitting events to RiverCal.org. Events that do not follow our guidelines may be edited.
Event Title: Be succinct; title should be less than 70 characters long, including spaces. Do not use all caps in event title. Avoid using acronyms in title (spell out words).
Categories: All events should have at least one category checked and events may belong to multiple categories. Users are encouraged to check all categories that apply. Please do not check categories that do not apply to your event. If you are unsure how to select a category, please review the FAQs or Contact Us.
Event Locations: When hosting events, please be considerate of people with disabilities and specify the accessibility of your event and any accommodations available.
Proofreading: It is the responsibility of the event poster to proofread their entry. RiverCal administrators may edit the event listing if errors are found.
Canceling an Event: If a posted event must be canceled and it is less than two weeks before the event date, change the event title to included “Canceled:” and leave the event posted, rather than just deleting the event.
What You Can and Can’t Post to RiverCal.org:
RiverCal is focused on community events in the Siuslaw region that will be of interest to residents and/or visitors. These are events associated with a group, organizer, or business that are open to the public, or are events organized by membership organizations that, if not open to the public, will accept new members and allow guests/visitors at their meetings. Examples of events welcomed on RiverCal.org include:
Fundraisers, performances, meetings, concerts, festivals, fairs, business events, special one-time sales, open house events, screenings, gatherings, meetups, and government events.
This calendar does not duplicate the newspaper classifieds and/or Craigslist. Due to space considerations, events like garage sales organized by an individual, birthday parties for an individual, etc., should not be posted to RiverCal.org.
