The March 6, 2024 meeting of the Florence Area Community Coalition (FACC) will
feature Judy Smith, Area Manager for Home Share Oregon, who will provide an
overview of HomeShare Oregon’s services and an update of their progress in the
Florence area. HomeShare Oregon is a non-profit organization that partners with
SilverNest to help homeowners who want to share their home match with people who
need to rent a space in a home.
HomeShare Oregon’s web site says, “HomeShare Oregon is addressing the housing
crisis by connecting people seeking housing with homeowners who have extra space in
their homes. Participants create profiles and are matched based on their needs and
preferences. The organization conducts background checks and assists in forming
rental agreements. Homeowners can earn extra income while renters find more
affordable options. They are advocating for House Bill 3032, which would exempt
homeowners from income tax on earnings from long-term room rentals under $1,000
per month.
The meeting will start at 10:45am in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library
District, 1460 9 th Street in Florence. The meeting will also be available via Zoom and a
Zoom link will be posted by Monday noon, March 4, 2024, on the FACC website:
www.florenceareacc.org.
As always, FACC meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are a valuable
opportunity for both individuals and representatives of local organizations to connect,
share information and resources, find volunteer opportunities and network.
